About: Last year the Burchfield Penney Center Art Center at SUNY Buffalo State presented GOLDEN celebrating the Center’s 50th anniversary. By design, the cultural happening drew large, diverse crowds from our neighbors throughout this region. Between 3,000 and 4,000 visitors stormed the Center for site-specific installations, live music, workshops, and wide-ranging creativity not just in the galleries but the hallways, stairwells, and secret nooks and crannies of the entire building. The experience created so much buzz it will now be an annual anniversary celebration. STAY GOLD will take place Friday, December 8, 5:30 pm – 11 pm. Admission is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. “In the grand scheme of things, 50 years for a museum is actually not ‘old’. Many cultural institutions in the US are more than 150 years old—let alone decades old in the wider world. Golden was our 50th anniversary, which happens only once, but we’re going to continue Stay Gold to remind ourselves and our community that we are still growing, developing and excited about that,” said Heather Gring, Burchfield Penney Archivist and event leader. “Stay Gold reminds The Center to stay true to our roots of exploration and innovation in the arts, and stay inquisitive, open and genuine. The event is an opportunity for us to showcase local artists and musicians, all in one night.”
