About: Natalie DiIenno: Out of the Blue (Into the Void) Opening Reception Friday, April 21, 2017, 6 – 9pm On view April 21, 2017 – May 1, 2017 Exhibition Hours: By appointment Buffalo, NY—Argus Gallery is pleased to announce Out of the Blue (Into the Void), a thesis exhibition by University at Buffalo, Master of Fine Art candidate Natalie DiIenno. Spanning the past two years of artistic production, the exhibit features large scale photographic prints and light installations. DiIenno’s work seeks to investigate the inherent nature of photography as a light-sensitive medium. The colors and scale of these works collectively create an environment that conveys a relationship to vastness. Deep seas, skies, and space—the infinite void. DiIenno explains “the installation provides space and comfort to the viewer through a removal of the world via immersion into an intense blue/black void. This immersion is an abstraction of the aesthetic sublime experience, articulated through the reduction of figurative imagery into biomorphic shapes, light, landscapes, colors, and the cosmos.” ABOUT THE ARTIST: Natalie DiIenno is a Buffalo based artist. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Florida, where she majored in photography. Her work explores psychoanalysis and post-structuralism, particularly in relation to representation, language, and photographic imagery.
