Brief-description: A Double Life -- The Film and Concert Music of Miklos Rozsa (1907-1995)

About: The Hungarian-born Miklos Rozsa began as a modernist composer in the mold of Bela Bartok, but when he entered the orbit of the film-making Korda family, he began his illustrious career as one of Hollywood's top-flight film composers. His most popular and acclaimed music have been his scores for historical and Biblical epics, especially "Quo Vadis," "Ben-Hur" and "King of Kings." We'll see how Rozsa basically invented the musical vocabulary for these so-called 'sand-and-sandal' spectaculars!
